Fun and miscellaneous books
The links below will allow you to purchase these items through Amazon.com. I also encourage you to visit
your local independent bookseller. Such stores are often places where Pagans can find community and
information, and deserve our support.
Three good books about Celtic art:
- The
Celts (Sacred Symbols), Robert Adkinson, ed.
- A tiny little book with useful information on Celtic symbology. Excellent introduction for the newcomer.
- Celtic
Art: Symbols and Imagery, Miranda Green.
- Excellent historical source discussing the role of the artist in the Celtic world and other valuable historical
facts to help you understand what Celtic art meant to the people who saw it.
- The
Art of the Celts, Lloyd and Jennifer Laing.
- Another useful historical book, a good source of ideas for incorporating
Celtic themes in one's own art.
Three useful books on other Pagan topics:
- The
Master Book of Herbalism, Paul Beyerl.
- Excellent resource with both medical and magical properties for many
common herbs.
- The
Only Way to Learn Astrology, Marion D. March.
- For the beginner who is seriously interested, this is a valuable resource
despite the pretentious title. Not an easy book, but an informative one.
- Salem
Possessed, Paul Boyer and Stephen Nissenbaum.
- Not a Pagan book, but a thorough sociological study of the witchcraft
craze at Salem, Mass., in 1692. Fascinating sidelights on the economics and
social structure that led to ordinary citizens being accused of witchcraft, and the
deadly results of those accusations.
One fun book:
- The
Salem Witches' Book of Love Spells, Lilith McClelland.
- Not for Witches who take themselves too seriously! This is a just-for-fun
spellbook with nuggets of information on the history of love magic, and even some
common-sense relationship advice.
